At 28 years of age, my husband already has high blood pressure. I always say that this was due to his stressful lifestyle AND an obsessive-compulsive personality. Being an anesthesiologist, he is in charge of watching over the patient while his surgeon operates. If the patient is breathing well, heart rate normal and regular, and his blood pressure within the acceptable range. Who wouldn't develop hypertension with that hanging over your head? Since he couldn't change careers, he started taking anti-hypertensive medications. Unfortunately, they didn't seem to work very well for him, even causing some minor side effects.
So, Sherwin suggested WE try taking Yoga classes. Maybe it'll help him relax and lower his blood pressure, he said. I thought it was a good idea (though I'd rather enroll in a dance class). One, we get to spend some time together. Two, we get some time off as parents and just be husband and wife. Three, we'll both feel good about ourselves and get fit in the process.
We're currently looking at Bikram Yoga Manila since they have a studio near us, their price is cheaper than other offers, and we like their schedule. I'll post updates as soon as we've enrolled!
